How it Works

Somatic Experiencing works directly with the nervous system to resolve the survival stress that gets stored in the body. Developed by Dr. Peter Levine, Somatic Experiencing is built on the understanding that trauma isn't just what happened to you. It's what happened inside you in response. Through gentle, guided awareness of physical sensations, impulses, and tension patterns, we help your nervous system complete what it couldn't finish, restoring your natural capacity for regulation.

Sessions are conducted virtually, which means you do this work from within your own environment, a space where your nervous system already has some sense of safety. That isn't a workaround; it's often an advantage. When your body is already in a familiar, regulated space, we can access deeper layers of the work more readily.

What Happens In the virtual room

Each session begins where you are in that moment. We slow down to notice what's happening in your body: sensations, impulses, temperature, tension, tracking without judgment. We create space for your nervous system to process what it's been holding. 

This isn't about reliving trauma or forcing breakthroughs. Somatic Experiencing works by building your window of tolerance, gradually expanding your capacity to be with sensation, emotion, and activation without becoming overwhelmed or shut down. Over time, you'll find yourself responding to life from a regulated, grounded place instead of reacting from old survival patterns that no longer serve you.
