Why You Can't Sit Still (And What It's Really About)
Recently I was talking to a friend. She's a lover and a doer, doing for everyone else but herself. Her family. Her work. Her mother.
She had a day off coming up, and I said, "You could just rest."
Her response: "I can't sit still. My mind goes a million different places."
What I Realized About My Own Escape
I had a flashback. Years in the corporate world, working constantly, and when I wasn't working, I was volunteering, or filling time with friends, or driving back to NY to see my parents.
What I realized years later: that was my escape from being with myself. Because if I had downtime, I'd have to be with myself. And being with myself meant being with everything that comes up.
That's not fun at first. Sitting with the discomfort. The emotions you've been outrunning. The things you've been avoiding, one thought at a time, until they get loud enough that avoiding them takes more energy than looking at them would.
Why You Don't Have to Do This Alone
You don't have to do this alone. Honestly, it's better if you don't. Having someone to guide you, support you, mirror you, and witness you changes what's possible.
That's why I created Autumn: Reconnect. Review. Release. Six sessions over six weeks, with support between sessions.
The Honest Part
I hear the reasons not to start: no time, too expensive, not the right moment. I get it. I've said all three to myself.
But here's the honest part: the things you want to change don't start moving until you start moving. Not tomorrow-you. Not later-you, when things calm down. You, now, exactly as busy and uncertain as you are today.
I'm saying this more directly than I usually do in these posts. In session, we have honest conversations. I realized I'd been softening that in my writing, and I don't want to do that anymore. You deserve the same honesty here that you'd get sitting across from me.
Haven't met me yet? Let's talk about it on a Discovery Call.
