Only You Can Put the Pieces Together
I was recently a guest on Pieces to Wellness, a podcast hosted by Tim and Karen that covers mental health and wellness conversations each week. You can listen to the full episode here.
Partway through our conversation, one of them repeated a line from their own show's intro back to me: only you can put the pieces together. I actually wrote it down while we were talking, because it's exactly how I think about the work I do, more than I'd realized until I heard it said out loud.
It's part of why, a while back, I stopped calling myself an energy healer and started calling myself an energy practitioner instead. I'm not the one doing the healing. I'm holding a space where it can happen, and the actual work belongs to the person in front of me, their body, their system, their willingness to show up.
We talked about a lot in this episode: what a Somatic Experiencing session actually looks like, why I don't believe people are really "stuck" so much as in a holding pattern, and a long conversation about anger, particularly how many women were taught early on that anger wasn't allowed to be felt, let alone expressed.
One story I shared: during a Somatic Experiencing training years ago, a practice exercise revealed that my peripheral vision was weaker on one side, not because of any actual vision problem, but because my body was still holding onto multiple car accidents where I'd been hit on that same side. A handful of sessions later, both sides matched again. That's the kind of thing this work can surface and resolve, things you didn't even know you were carrying.
If any of this resonates, and you've been sitting with the idea of doing this kind of work but haven't known where to start, my Signature Session blends Reiki, Emotion Code, and Somatic Experiencing based on what you actually need that day. You can read more here, or start with the free 4-part somatic audio series if you'd rather ease in first.
