Why I Stopped Operating Under My Own Name

For as long as I've been doing this work, it's lived under my name. Allison Karoly. Integrative energy work, coaching, somatic practice. My name, my work, my identity. All wrapped into one.

And for a long time, that felt right. Or at least, it felt like the only option.

But somewhere along the way, something started to feel off. Not with the work itself. The work has always felt right. It was more like trying to wear a coat that used to fit perfectly and realizing, slowly, that it no longer did. Nothing was wrong with the coat. You'd just grown.

I'd been feeling called toward a change for a while. There were practical reasons that eventually made it necessary, but honestly, the practical stuff was just the final push. The pull had been there long before that.

What I've learned from years of doing this work, with clients and on myself, is that when something keeps coming back, when a nudge turns into a persistent feeling that won't quiet down, that's worth paying attention to. That's not restlessness. That's alignment trying to get your attention.

So I listened.

I went inward. I gave it space. I let things reorganize without forcing them into a shape I could explain to anyone yet. And what came out of that period wasn't just a name. It was a clarity I hadn't expected.

The name Amperella comes from ampere, the unit that measures electrical current. It represents the energy that naturally moves through you and powers your life. When it came forward as the right name, something in me settled in a way that's hard to describe but impossible to ignore. It felt less like a decision and more like a recognition. This is what this work has always been. It just finally has a name that fits.

What I want you to take from this isn't really about me or a name change. It's about what happens when you stop pushing through the feeling that something needs to shift and actually let it.

That's the work I do with clients every day. Not convincing them to blow up their lives, but helping them get quiet enough to hear what's already trying to come through. The clarity that follows when you stop overriding your own signals is not a small thing. It changes how you make decisions. It changes how you show up. It changes what feels possible.

Amperella is that clarity, made visible.

If you've been feeling your own version of the coat that no longer fits, I'd love to connect. Sometimes it takes one conversation to start hearing yourself again.
